Confucianism • Is a system of behaviors and ethics show obligations like; loyalty and honor on each relationship • Basic tenets upon 5 different relationships: • Ruler and subject • Husband and wife • Parents and children • Brothers and sisters • Friend and friend
Greetings • Men to Men • Bow (younger man should bow lower) • Women to Women • Bow in the first meeting • Men to Women • Slight nod or bow • In business settings they commonly shake hands
Culture • Personal Space • Tend to stand at arm length, and farther if stranger • View of time • Value time and respect schedules and deadlines
Businesses • It could be hard to have a successful business in Korea because they tend to do businesses with people they have personal relationship with • Work relationships can develop by informal gathering
