What is WINGS? WINGS is an education program that teaches low-income kids how to behave well, make good decisions and build healthy relationships. We do this by weaving a comprehensive social and emotional learning curriculum into a fresh and fun after school program.
Problem • 42% of all U.S. children are low-income • Low-income students graduate high school at lower rates • 50% of African American girls become pregnant before 20 • 15% male black male juvenile delinquency rate • Price of failing to graduate: • $630,000 in lifetime personal income • $240,000 in social welfare costs • 22% of daily jailing rate for young black males
