Dictionary of Canadian Biography Online www.biographi.ca • Originated in 1959 • A co-operative project of the University of Toronto and the Université Laval • In 2003, a licensing agreement was reached with the Department of Canadian Heritage to implement an online version • Currently hosted by the Library and Archives Canada

Contents and features of DCB Online • Authoritative; includes searchable biographies of both well-known and lesser-known Canadians • Freely available • Excellent source of information on people who died prior to 1930 • Indexing by gender, identity/profession, geographic region, and era of death

  9. Searching the DCB • Quick Biography Search is a keyword search • Browse alphabetically by last name • Use Advanced Search to limit results by: • Geography (place of birth and career) • Identification/Profession • Era of Death (i.e. by Volume number) • Gender
