Overall Project Objective • To contribute to Barbados’ improved public health • enhance competitiveness of the Agricultural and Fisheries sectors of Barbados by raising the NAHFC system up to international safety standards
National Agricultural Health and Food Control Programme Programme’s 2 components: Component 1: Development of the legal, regulatory and institutional framework Component 2: Upgrading of the laboratories and border inspection posts

Component 1 (Project Implementation Activities) • Establishment of NAHFC Agency and System • Development and/or upgrading of legislation and regulations; • Development of, and support for implementation of GAP or GMP;
Project Implementation Activities con’t • Development of programmes to improve regulatory services for Plant Health, Animal and Veterinary Public Health, Food Safety and Quality; for example: • Surveillance programmes • Inspection systems • Food recall • Emergency response plan • Risks assessment studies
Project Implementation Activities con’t Identification and development of training programmes; Development of an integrated information system; Development of traceability systems
