  1. Sockets AND PLUGES PROBLMES IN THE SAUDI MARKET The unstandard sockets and plugs could cause many problems not only for human being but also for buildings , factories …..etc and may be all of towns . Many disasters were happened in everywhere around the world because of bad connections .

  6. So, MOWE and SASO cooperated to carry out various tests on 115 random samples from ( sockets , plugs , power bars , and adaptors ) according to the flowing tables :

  12. This study gives the following indicators : • Local samples are not exceeding 20 %. • Complied specimens of socket not exceed 20%. • Complied specimens of plug not exceed 10%. • Complied specimens of power bars not exceed zero %. • Complied specimens of adaptor not exceed zero %.

  13. The results above show that the power bars and adaptors are the very danger things and can cause a disaster in any time when they not comply with the standard.

  14. Tests • Visual inspection • Dimensions • Entrance shape • Dielectric test • Heat resistance test • High voltage test • Measuring of wire cross section .

  15. Insulation resistance test 500V /1min ≥ 5 M Ω . • Dielectric test 2000 V / 1min. • Contact resistance test ≤ 0.05 Ω .

  16. Withdrawal force test .

  17. Resistance to upnormal heat and fire test . • 850 C / 30 sec.

Recommendations • All authorities , ministries , and public sectors which care of standards must join to implement and activate the standards . • Support and develop the national laboratories to update the modified standard . • Applying the conformity program to ban the un- complying products . • Improving the local products by complying with Saudi Standard .
