Introduction TAAT is part of AfDB’s “Feed Africa” Strategy 150m people adequately fed / 100m people lifted out of poverty / 190m hectares with restored productivity TAAT supports Feed Africa by providing needed, proven agricultural technologies and implementation strategies for inclusion within AfDB's loans to Regional Member Countries.

ENABLE TAAT Compact Goal: to reduce the economic marginalization of African youth through the introduction of modernized agricultural technologies in a way that leads to new agribusiness and greater employment opportunities Components • Agribusiness Completion • Agribusiness Incubation • Advocacy • Youth Registration • Food Basket Objectives T A R G E T S Investing in at least 19African countries • Expand Agribusiness Opportunities • Provide Agribusiness Support • Improve Human Nutrition • Advance Youth Empowerment Mechanisms Reach 5,000 youth in 3 years At least 39 start-up enterprises as quick win in year 1 Benin, Burundi, Cameroon, Cote d’Ivoire, DRC, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Sudan, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda and Zambia

Agribusiness Completion • Committed to refine and spin-off youth-led enterprises (at least 39 in year one) • Keen focus on TAAT’s value chains • 61 business applications were received from 6 countries (DRC, Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia) • 34 agribusinesses received CBTA support (first batch), 23 approved for second Batch Yeka Farms: one of the start-ups

  13. Agribusiness Incubation . • ENABLE-TAAT supports the establishment of new agribusiness incubations at 7 locations • The incubation activities include; • Preparation of incubation implementation. • Selection of Agripreneurs. • Upgrade of incubation hosts. • Conduct incubation of Agripreneurs

  14. Advocacy and Outreach • Sensitization • Project documentation • Resource mobilization It is intended to guide others toward agribusiness incubation and youth-led enterprise development

Food Basket • This includes cross cutting priority of Improved nutrition using the youths who are well positioned to advance this cause (OFSP, Beans, Cassava, Maize). • Strategy to develop a network of nutritional food basket demonstrations (mother fields). Report FBO findings to Value chain leaders and program management office.

Youth Registration • Intended to develop a system of agribusiness support and mentorship • Developing a database that provides information on youth and the benefits they receive along the value chains • The database to be completed through the activities in ENABLE TAAT components in countries of engagement
