King Henry VIII ORIENTEERING Fixtures 2013 – 2104 Winter Term

1. October: Saturday 6th- Burton Dassett(Own transport as I am organising this event). Saturday 26th– Borough Hill, Daventry. Note: this event is in October half term. November: Saturday 9th – Oakley Wood & Ashorne Hill, Warwick. Coaching event. Sunday 17th – British Schools Orienteering Championships, near Nottingham. Separate letter issued with details, team needs to entered by half term. Saturday 23rd – Tudor Grange Park, Solihull. December: Sunday 8th – Haywood, Coventry A minibus will be travelling to all the listed events, unless stated, please check the orienteering notice board between Outdoor Education and C4 for departure times and sign up sheet. Cost is £3.00 per event unless stated. Please bring a change of shoes (for the minibus)/warm clothes/watch/ waterproofs/snacks and a drink for after your run, you may be waiting for people to finish! Newcomers all welcome, coaching will be available at most events. Captains: Rachel Johnson and Tom Lea King Henry VIII ORIENTEERINGFixtures 2013 – 2104Winter Term Orienteering is an exciting outdoor adventure sport which involves walking or running whilst navigating around a course using a detailed map and a compass. The aim is to navigate in sequence between a set of control points and decide the best route to complete the course in the quickest time. It is a sport in which King Henry VIII School enjoys great success, with many podium places at the annual school events, taking place in October/November and May. Not only do our students do well at school level, but they have also achieved other national and international successes throughout the years.
