    2. 15 Dec.2001 Antibiotic Prophylaxis in Hysterectomy - Dr.V.Panda & Dr.S.N.Panda 2 AIM THE AIM OF THE STUDY WAS TO INVESTIGATE THE TYPES AND DURATION OF THE VARIOUS ANTIBIOTIC PROPHYLAXES AND THEIR RELATIVE EFFECTIVENESS IN ELECTIVE HYSTERECTOMIES AS PRACTISED AT M.K.C.G.MEDICAL COLLEGE AND TO EVALUATE THEIR EFFECTIVENESS.

    3. 15 Dec.2001 Antibiotic Prophylaxis in Hysterectomy - Dr.V.Panda & Dr.S.N.Panda 3 MATERIALS AND METHODS FROM JAN 99 TO JUN 2000, 225 CASES OF ELECTIVE HYSTERECTOMIES WERE STUDIED. THEIR PREOPERATIVE STATUS WAS RECORDED. THE DETAILS OF ANTIBIOTIC PROPHYLAXIS IN THESE PATIENTS WERE RECORDED AS AND WHEN ADMINISTERED.

THE PATIENTS WERE FOLLOWED UP CLOSELY DURING THE POSTOPERATIVE PERIOD TILL THEIR DISCHARGE FROM THE HOSPITAL FOR THE OCCURRENCE OF ANY INFECTIOUS MORBIDITY.

    23. 15 Dec.2001 Antibiotic Prophylaxis in Hysterectomy - Dr.V.Panda & Dr.S.N.Panda 23 It is concluded that the cheap and simple antibiotic prophylaxis of TINIDAZOLE 2gms given orally 12 hours before, and CIPROFLOXACIN 200mg. Iv, 12 hourly for 48 hours started at the time of induction of anaesthesia is as effective as any other antibiotic prophylaxis. Conclusion
