Neutron and Proton Induced Evaluated Transport Library up to 150 MeV Alexander Yu. Konobeyev, Yury A.Korovin, Gennady B.Pilnov, Alexey Yu.Stankovskiy International Conference onAccelerator Applications 2005 Venice, Italy, August 29 – September 1, 2005
The library preliminary entitled TREF (Transport Recommended Evaluated data Files) has been developed. Library contains nuclear data for transport, heating and shielding applications Incident nucleon energy range: 10-5 eV150 MeV Library consists of 242 files for nuclides ranging from 17O (Z=8) to 204Pb (Z=82) Neutron sub-library: completed Proton sub-library: being developed Library complements the LA-150 library with isotopes contained in ENDF/B-VI (Release 8), JENDL-3.3 and JEFF-3.0 libraries (upper energy region 20 MeV) International Conference onAccelerator Applications 2005 Venice, Italy, August 29 – September 1, 2005
NEUTRON SUB-LIBRARY STRUCTURE Neutron data library was developed taking ENDF/B-VI (Revision 8) as basic data at the energies below 20 MeV. For a number of stable nuclides the evaluated data files are absent in ENDF/B-VI. For such cases the basic data below 20 MeV were taken from JENDL-3.3 and JEFF-3.0: JENDL-3.3 for 70Ge, 130,132Ba, 138La, 162,164,168,170Er, 196,198,199,200,201,202,204Hg JEFF-3.0 for 36,38,40Ar, natZn, natOs, natPt, natTl ENDF/B-VI (8) for the remainder bulk of isotopes. Particle Emission Spectra • Computer tool: • ALICE/ASH code, the principally upgraded version of ALICE code [Blann, M., Code ALICE 92, 1992]. • The main improvements: • algorithms for description of the complex particle emission, • fast gamma emission, • calculation of the level density according to the different approaches. Konobeyev, A.Yu., Korovin, Yu.A., and Pereslavtsev, P.E., “Code ALICE/ASH for Calculation of Excitation Functions, Energy and Angular Distributions of Emitted Particles in Nuclear Reactions”, Report INPE, Obninsk, 1997. Proton-induced data The evaluation of data for proton induced reactions was based on the use of the same codes and models that have been evoked for neutron data evaluations. For the majority of the nuclei, the optical potential [A.J. Koning, J.P. Delaroche, Nucl. Phys. A713 (2003) 231] was used to calculate total reaction cross-sections and double differential energy-angular distributions of secondary protons. For some nuclei, the optical potentials [J.J.H.Menet et al., Phys. Rev. C4,11 (1971) 14; P.Schwandt, et al., Phys. Rev. C. 26 (1982) 55] have been used. However, even for nuclei, for which there are specially elaborated optical potentials, as a rule, the potential [A.J. Koning, J.P. Delaroche, Nucl. Phys. A713 (2003) 231] was used at energies above 50-60 MeV. International Conference onAccelerator Applications 2005 Venice, Italy, August 29 – September 1, 2005
Future Development Near-term Completion of the proton sub-library Addition of recoil spectra to prepared data files Long term Careful evaluation of data files for rare earth isotopes Evaluation of cross-sections for radiation damage problem ? Evaluation for light and fissionable nuclei International Conference onAccelerator Applications 2005 Venice, Italy, August 29 – September 1, 2005
Conclusions (1) The first version of neutron data sub-library of the library TREF has been completed. The library contains the data for nuclei with atomic number ranging from 8 to 82 necessary for transport, heating and shielding calculations in the energy range of the incident neutrons from 10-5 eV to 150 MeV. At 20 MeV the data were adjusted to data taken from the ENDF/B-VI, JENDL-3.3 or JEFF-3.1 libraries, which were used below 20 MeV. The sub-library containing proton-induced data is under development. The available data files for Na, Mg, K, Ar, Ba, Ta isotopes and natural mixtures were prepared. International Conference onAccelerator Applications 2005 Venice, Italy, August 29 – September 1, 2005
Conclusions (2) Necessary improvements of library TREF at the condition of financial support: The evaluation of general-purpose files for both stable and unstable rare earth nuclides The updating (on the basis of IOTA calculations) of BISERM-2 library with inclusion of data for basic compounds and release it as part of TREF library Acknowledgements Authors appreciate Dr. A.J. Koning for providing with the TALYS code. This work was partially supported by ISTC in the framework of the ISTC Project 2578.
