Adjectives หมายถึง คำที่ไปทำหน้าที่ขยายคำนามหรือ สรรพนามเพื่อบอกให้รู้ลักษณะคุณภาพของนามหรือสรรพนาม มีอยู่ 6 ชนิด 1.Descriptive Adjective (คำคุณศัพท์บอกลักษณะ) หมายถึง คำที่ใช้บอกลักษณะหรือคุณภาพของ คน สัตว์ สิ่งของ สถานที่เพื่อให้รู้ว่านามนั้นมีลักษณะอย่างไร เช่น good , bad , fat , short ,happy ,sorry ,ugly ,big ,small ,black เช่น The black cat caught a small bird. แมวดำตัวนั้นจับนกได้

  4. 2.proper adjective (คุณศัพท์บอกสัญชาติ) หมายถึง คำที่ไปขยายนามหรือคำคุณสรรพนามเพื่อบอกสัญชาติซึ่งมีรูปเปลี่ยนมาจาก proper nounเช่นEngland=English เช่น John employs a German cook.(จอห์นจ้างพ่อครัวชาวเยอรมันคนหนึ่ง)

  5. หมายถึง คำที่ไปขยายนาม เพื่อบอกให้ทราบปริมาณของสิ่งเล่านั้นว่า มีมากหรือน้อย (แต่ไม่บอกจำนวนที่แน่นอน) ได้แก่ mach,many,little,some,any,enough,half,great,all,whole เป็นต้น ตัวอย่างเช่น Heate rice at school yesterday.(เขามากินข้าวที่โรงเรียนเมื่อวานนี้) Tom did not give any money him younger brother.(ทอมไม่ได้ ให้เงินแก่น้องชายของเขา) Quantitative Adjective ( คำคุณศัพท์บอกปริมาณ )

  6. 4.Numberal Adjective (คำคุณศัพท์บอกจำนวน) หมายถึง คำคุณศัพท์บอกจำนวนมากน้อยของนามที่นับได้ (countable nouns) หรือบอกลำดับก่อนหลัง (order) ของคำนาม แบ่งออกได้เป็น 3 ชนิด คือ บอกจำนวนนับ (Cardinal) one,two,three,four บอกลำดับที่ (Ordinal) first,second,third บอกจำนวนเท่า (Muitiplicative) single,double,triple

  7. ตัวอย่างเช่น She gave me two apple and three orange. (เขาให้แอปเปิ้ลสองผล และสามผลแก่ฉัน) Bill wants to buy seven pens. (บิลต้องการซื้อปากกาเจ็ดด้าม) Tom is the first boy in the line. (ทอมเป็นเด็กคนแรกในแถว) Sam wan the third prize last mont. (แซมได้รับรางวัลที่ 3 เมื่อเดือนที่แล้ว)

  8. I am the seventh son my family. (ฉันเป็นลูกคนที่ 7 ของครอบครัว) I ordered double cheese burger. (ฉันสั่งเบอเกอร์ที่มีชีส 2 ชั้น) Buddha,Dharma,andSangha are triple gems. (พระพุทธ พระธรรม และพระสงฆ์ คือแก้ว 3 ประการ)

  9. หมายถึง คำที่แสดงความชี้เฉพาะ เจาะจงนามใดนามหนึ่ง ได้แก่ this , that , these , the Demonstrative adjective ( คำคุณศัพท์ชี้เฉพาะหรือนิยมคุณศัพท์ )

  10. ตัวอย่างเช่น I invited thatman to come in.( ฉันได้เชิญผู้ชายคนนั้นให้เข้ามาด้านใน ) She wants these redpen.( เขาต้องปากกาสีแดง ) Please open thecomputer.( กรุณาเปิดคอมพิวเตอร์เครื่องนั้นให้หน่อย )

  11. 6. Possessive adjective(คุณศัพท์บอกเจ้าของหรือสามีคุณศัพท์) หมายถึง คำคุณศัพท์ที่ใช้ขยายนามเพื่อบอกความเป็นเจ้าของนั้นๆ ได้แก่ my,our,your,his,her,itsและtheir ตัวอย่างเช่น 1.this is my table.(นี่คือโต๊ะของฉัน) 2. Her pencil is small.(ดินสอของหล่อนมีขนาดเล็ก) 3.Your hair is long.(ผมของเธอยาว)
