  2. INTRODUCTION If your septic tank has been in underground for many years without causing any problems It can be quite a shock when things begin to go wrong. If you believe you may be experiencing issues there, we've got the Septic Tank Troubleshooting Checklist to assist you in getting to the root of the issue.

  4. IS IT TIME FOR AN EMPTY? It may sound like a good idea to start with but if you've experienced guests staying with you or something that may make it more difficult to use the septic tank it could be in need of emptying earlier than normal. The first plan was the septic tank emptying. If this helps sort the issue out I am happy to have helped!

  5. CHECK WHAT'S BEEN FLUSHED INTO THE SYSTEM. Septic tanks as well as other off-mains drainage systems can be a source of irritation and there's a myriad of substances that could be flushed into them that can cause all kinds of irritability. Things like antibacterial cleaners such as oil and grease, as well as even cotton buds could cause chaos in your septic system.

  6. GET A SPECIALIST OUT TO TAKE A THOROUGH LOOK. Not just any expert, take UKDP out to conduct an in-depth review. Why? Because we'll identify the cause of the issue We may also be able to negotiate the cost of any work that is required to be covered by your current buildings insurance.

  7. CHECK WHERE YOU THINK THE PROBLEM MIGHT BE OCCURRING. If you've noticed water pools over the area at the point where your soakaway is located, it could mean that the soakaway isn't functioning properly and that the water is flowing towards the surface instead of going over the soil subsoils.

  8. IS ANY PART OF YOUR DRAINAGE SYSTEM OUTSIDE OF THE BOUNDARY OF YOUR PROPERTY? IT'S NOT UNCOMMON WITHIN THE REALM OF OFF-MAINS DRAINAGE SYSTEMS. IF YOU'RE EXPERIENCING THIS, YOU'LL NEED TO DETERMINE IF SOMETHING HAS OCCURRED IN THE VICINITY WHERE THE SYSTEM IS SITUATED - FOR INSTANCE, VEHICLE MOVEMENTS OVER SOAKAWAY PIPEWORK THAT COULD CAUSE THE PIPES TO FALL.
