Natural Gas Gathering and Processing – Why Important for MLPs The source of natural gas – It is produced from wells that are connected to a gathering system with a network of smaller pipelines to collect the gas and deliver it to the required destination through larger pipeline systems. Natural gas processing – The gas produced from wells is known as “row gas.” A stream of raw gas with a lot of natural gas liquids, which include ethane, normal butane, propane, isobutane and natural gasoline, is called "moist gas." Crude gas also has some impurities such as water, carbon dioxide and sulfur. Natural gas gathering and processing removes impurities and separates natural gas liquids (or NGLs) from the dry gas. Processing is valuable because natural gas liquids, as separate components, have their own applications and are worth more to extract from the raw gas stream. In addition, there are some requirements for long- term natural gas pipelines to enter the natural gas pipeline system, and generally the gas should be sufficiently dry (i.e. NGL content is not specified). NGL naturally dissolves in natural liquid by natural gas and is usually separated from dry gas (ethane). NGLs are large hydrocarbons, so they are in liquid at higher temperatures than ethane, so they are eliminated from cryogenic recovery. While the collection and processing of natural gas are two different processes, they are generally referred to as "collection and processing" or "G & P", since collecting companies generally also perform processing and services are closely linked. Because these services relate to energy infrastructure, they can be done by structured companies as limited master societies, or "MLPs." MLPs receive special
treatment because they are exempt from federal corporation tax. This favorable tax treatment means that MLPs are generally traded with higher valuations than C- Corp's regular entities would receive for the same asset base. For more information on MLPs, see the basics of Master Limited Partnership (MLP). Companies involved in the process of Natural Gas Accounting, collection and processing are often medium energy companies of MLP ("midstream" generally refers to the transportation, storage and commercialization of hydrocarbons such as natural gas and oil). Amongst these companies are Regency Energy (RGP), DCP Midstream (DPM), Access Midstream Partners (ACMP), MarkWest Energy (MWE), Atlas Pipeline Partners (APL), Targa Resources (NGLS), and Western Gas Partners (WES). Many of these companies are components of the ETP Alerian MLP (AMLP), the largest ETF with a focus on the MLP energy sector. GPIS – Must to Achieve Greater Revenue Potential Do you want to drive operational efficiencies and achieve greater revenue? If yes, then you are at the right place and reading the right piece of information. If you really want to drive operational efficiencies and get greater level of revenue, GPIS is the first and the best choice. No matter, you are a gas plant operator, gathering facility operator or an owner of E&P Company, managing the complex process of allocation and revenue settlement is not going to be so simple. It is also considered to be the most comprehensive and integrated business solution that has been deployed in hundreds of midstream facilities to meet oil and Gas Company’s hydrocarbon production revenue and Gas Settlement needs. What can GPIS do for your business? GPIS is the great software when it comes to saving money. It reduces the labor costs and eliminates errors by offering the perfect gas plant and gathering system allocation and revenue process. GPIS helps you give a deep insight into operations, producing margin reports and system performance. With GPIS, there is no need to maintain any kind of manual spreadsheets. Every record is error free and allow “fat fingered” data to enter your supply chain. GPIS offers highest standard industry processes to make the allocations perform much easier and makes them very simple to maintain.
If somebody is in this industry and really want to make the Natural Gas Gathering system and its allocation and settlement easy to maintain, there is no another option than using GPIS. eXigent Information Solutions, LLC was established back in November 1997 with an aim to provide custom solutions to information system problems of all sizes of companies.
