The GSM system family • GSM380/410/450/480 : GSM System in 400 MHz band; intended to substitute different analog standards • GSM850 : similar to GSM 900 but slightly modified in order to be able to substitute to the American AMPS • GSM900 : original GSM in 900 MHz band • E-GSM900 : Extension of GSM 900 • GSM-R : special for railway appication • GSM1800 : operating in 1800 MHz (DCS1800) • GSM1900 : operating in 1900 MHz ( US Market)
Data Register in GSM system • Home Location Register (HLR) • Calling number, services for which the user is authorized, information of actual location of the user • Visitor Location Register (VLR) • Contains copies of HLR sub-data-sets relating to the foreign users which are actually active in the area corresponding to the MSC
