Dr. Craig Pouncey 2012 Budget Flexibility with the 2012 Budget Board of Adjustment Claims Process INOW Phase III Conversion and Rollover Comprehensive Monitoring
Budget Highlights • K-12 retained 69.52% of the FY12 appropriations • FY 2012 budget will require 3.61% growth in ETF receipts to fully fund. • At-risk allocation does not have the 20% requirement • School nurse salary matrix has been corrected to reflect the minimum required 182 day contract period • Classroom instructional support includes $15.88 for textbooks and $134.78 for classroom materials and supplies
Budget Highlights • ARI, AMSTI and ACCESS are level funded at their current levels • State funds were added back for Fleet Renewal $33,039,479 • State funds were added to replace SFSF funds increasing OCE from $11,368/unit to $15,284/unit • Transportation Operations was increased $24,263,205.71 over what is being received this year
Flexibility • HB123 page 9: Flexibility to spend Public School Funds for other operating expenses. • HB123 page 11: It is the intent of the legislature that local boards have flexibility in determining where reductions in units are made. • HB123 page 65: Section 10 allows for the ability to carry forward unobligated allocation balances.
Flexibility • HB123 page 66: Section 12 Local Boards of Education may exercise flexibility among line item expenditures • HB123 page 66: Section 13 Local Boards of Education may request to redirect OCE funds designated for CNP pass-through
Board of Adjustment Claims • Claimant was picking up child after school. Tried to avoid hitting pothole in parking lot, but wasn’t successful because there were too many. Car went down in a hole and caused his spoiler kit on the front of the vehicle to come completely off. State of Alabama $1,089.00 • Claimant was leaving workroom after making copies. Someone had left a stack of mats by the door and she tripped over them causing her to hit the floor and break her eye glasses. State of Alabama $479
Board of Adjustment Claims • Claimant was a special education paraprofessional that works with physically challenged students. During a school fire drill, students who could not walk had to be carried out of the building. Claimant injured shoulder, resulting in surgery. State of Alabama $4,047.98 • Claimant drives a school bus. The bus was not functioning properly. Complaints were made to her supervisor but nothing was done. Claimant had trouble controlling the bus which resulted in her hitting the side of her own car causing vehicle damage on the drivers side. State of Alabama $1,522
Board of Adjustment Claims • Claimant fell off a ladder in the band room while trying to capture a squirrel hiding on a shelf. State of Alabama $605.84

INOW Update • June 9: Attendance, LEAPS and SIR extracts were due • June 17: State Enrollment will be turned off • July 11: INOW summer release update available • July 18: State Enrollment will be turned back on • All Phase III districts will be connected to INOW no later than July 11th
