  1. Inverness High School Cross-curricular project: FAIRTRADE (February 09)

  2. 3x S2 classes • Timescale 5 weeks • Subjects: English, RME, French

  3. Success Criteria • Co-operative learning. • Assessment is for Learning. • An outside speaker. • An external class visit. • Event to conclude the project.

  4. LI’s: In English pupils will….. • invite a speaker & prepare questions • carry out Internet research on Fairtrade Fortnight & the Big Swap. • Produce a media product to document the project. (Film/radio/comic strip/blog) • Write letters and news articles. • Run an event to promote Fairtrade.

  5. LI’s: In RME pupils will • Be able to explain the difference that Fairtrade might make to the people involved in producing our food and clothes and be able to explain some of the reasons • learn about the labour behind branded trainers and sportswear, factory conditions and workers rights • think about the causes and consequences of the use of cheap labour in poorer countries • Produce an information leaflet for parents evening

  6. LI’s:In French pupils will • learn about French speaking countries who produce Fairtrade products • learn about the culture of these countries • produce a brochure giving information on a chosen Fairtrade country

  7. Challenges • Recording individual pupil progress (skills checklist/in coursework?) • Evaluating/recording the success of the project
