What is it? • Micro-blogging site • You can only post updates with 140 characters or less (letters/numbers) • Pictures and links are allowed, but there’s a special way to shorten them for Twitter • Like Facebook, but ONLY status updates • You “follow” people instead of being friends • You “tweet” instead of updating status • Celebrities confirm their identities here so you KNOW you’re following the right person • Has been used for social/political change!
Twitter Codes • RT and @: Replying to another person’s tweet • OH: Overheard on twitter; use it when you want to talk about something someone else tweeted without revealing who tweeted it • HT and @: Heard though; use it when you heard something from someone in REAL life and attach it to their twitter name to give them credit • #: Hashtag; helps group popular ideas together. For example, anyone who tweets the iPhone 4s could add #iphone4s at the end of (or in the middle of) the tweet and twitter will let users search for all iphone4s-related tweets
