Key Points • Do not send patients with contra-indicated or MRI unsafe implants/devices • MRI is not an option for everyone (Claustrophobics/unable to keep still for 20 min) • Response team - DO NOT ENTER MAGNET ROOM • Maximum table weight of 135kg • Girth measurements required on all patients over 110kg
MRI Safety • Risk of projectiles. The very strong magnetic field is switched on all the time. IT IS NEVER SWITCHED OFF
MRI Safety Absolute Contraindications • Metal foreign body in the eye • Aneurysm clips - will have FATAL consequences • Cardiac pacemakers - will have FATAL consequences
