Ways to Avoid • Abstinence - Only sure way to protect oneself from acquiring an STD • Sexual Fidelity - Medical checkup - Monogamous relationship • Precautions - Latex condoms – physical barrier - Only takes one contact - Always a chance of failure – 15 – 30% fail • No Drug Use - Transferred by blood to blood - Contaminated needles - Lower Inhibitions
