INTRODUCTION - The year is 2025. You are an architect who has been hired by an Architectural Company. Your have been asked to design a new building. You will compete with other architects on researching, designing and creating a product from the choices of architectural styles. Company officials have told you prizes will be awarded for the top three designs and work! You are expected to be creative, resourceful and be a problem-solver with this project! So get ready to work on a great project! ..\Desktop
TASKS- A. You will preview four different styles of architecture and choose one style and one sub-category to research. B. You will create a portfolioof drawings with the building style you chose.
TASKS - C. Design and make a productthat will incorporate forms of technology, art, music and drama. D. Analyze patterns in buildings styles from pictures. Your research, portfolio and products will be presented to the company. You will discuss and analyze patterns in buildings styles with other architects.
TASKS - E. The portfolio will later be shared with your boss (your teacher) and your other colleagues (your classmates) at a design meeting to determine the top three designs and products. F. We will travel to downtown Birmingham and go on a walking tour to view different architectural styles of churches and buildings.

P R O C E S S – FORSETZEN (German) After Researching … Then… You will choose one style and one sub category to research using the Internet sites provided, books, videos and/or movies. 3. Begin researching your topic. You can use the links located in the RESOURCE SECTION to help you become familiar with your topic.
PROCESS - Continued COPY & PASTE- QUESTION WORKSHEET 4. You will COPY & PASTE four images from the websites to a WORD document. You will draw all four of the images and place then in your portfolio. You will later share these images with other architects. 5. You will answer the question worksheet given to you by your boss to collect information for your WebQuest.

Next, you will meet with your boss to show her your accomplishments so far. You will share your work with your colleagues at a later time.
PROCESS - CONTINUED 8. The four images you drew should be reflective of the style of architecture that you are studied. You can draw what you see on the Web. Your work will be placed into your portfolio. 9. The one NEW BUILDING DESIGNthat you create will have the same key features from the style. 10. Practice drawing the key features before you incorporate them into your NEW BUILDING DESIGN.

The portfolio will include the following: • * One typed page of research of facts about the style of architecture • * A printout of four images of the style of architecture • Four drawn architectural designs based on the images of the style from the WEB • Completed Architectural Questions Worksheet • One NEW BUILDING DESIGN that incorporates key features of the style with your choice of art, drama, music, or technology. PROCESS – FINAL (SE FINI) FRENCH Finally, it is time to meet with your boss and other architects for a firm meeting. Architects will have 5-7 minutes to present their architectural designs portfolio to their colleagues to share new designs for the firm to build in the future.

CONCLUSION - Your architectural firm has many new designs and portfolios to choose a new building design. The firm is ready to locate the site of the new building. Through your research and presentations, you should now understand that architecture has many styles and periods that have changed over time and are influenced by the past, and will continue to grow in the future. This WebQuest was designed for you to become familiar with the career of architecture. A successful architect must have math and engineering skills and good social skills to work with other professionals.
CONCLUSION - This WebQuest will have an extension lesson. You will go out into the field to observe buildings in downtown Birmingham, Alabama. You will sketch buildings and take a closer look analyzing patterns within the style of the building. You and your colleagues will come back to the firm and discuss your findings. The evidence that you provide will verify that the geometric relationship is present. So let’s get started!
