Joshua 23-24:13. Retraces their steps to remember God’s faithfulness. Reiterates the Blessing and the Curse
Joshua is not saying, make sure you do not serve idols in the future but to put away the idols you are secretly worshipping now. Not a potential or possible sin. It is a now sin.
Deuteronomy 30:19. “I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. So CHOOSE life in order that you may live, you and your descendants.” I Kings 18:21. “Elijah came near to all the people and said, ‘How long will you hesitate between two opinions? If the Lord is God then follow Him; but if Baal follow him’ But the people did not answer him a word.” John 19:15. “So they cried out, ‘Away with Him, crucify Him!’ Pilate said to them, ‘shall I crucify your King?’ The chief priests answered, ‘We have no king but Caesar.”
So you want to serve the Lord Israel? Be Careful and count the cost
Things you seldom hear from a waiter • “No” • “Get it yourself” • “Stop bothering me” • “Sir, your awfully fat to be having the lemon butter sauce on that”
Serving the Lord in your Life Restaurant • Don’t ignore Him • If He asks you questions concerning your menu then be honest. • Clean up that spilled glob of crud another waiter dropped near His table that all the other waiters keep walking by it as if it were not there. • Get Him what He wants before He has to ask for it. • Since He is a repeat customer be aware of His likes and dislikes. • Know when to speak and when to listen
