How to Identify a Dystopia • Futuristic, foreign technology • Repressive, authoritarian government state • Mass conformity and lack of individual expression • Heavy handed moral
Dystopian Hero • Most Dystopian stories have a hero • Usually the only person in the society who realizes that the society is repressive and dangerous • Often rallies the society into rebellion • Sometimes meets a tragic end, as a warning to the audience
