MHPD Legal Cases • Our original grant envisioned the majority of cases coming from Court Administration (TCAMS) but we find 40% come from other sources such as judges, attorneys, pre-trial services and community referrals. • Also not included in the original grant concept are our representation of Project Recovery clients and incompetents. • Project Recovery constituted 16 clients during Q1 FY08.
MHPD Legal Cases • Incompetent clients (Under the current system, when an indigent inmate is found incompetent, they are transferred to our caseload.): • 25 have been referred for competency exams • 19 were found incompetent • 8 of those clients were transferred from other attorneys • We have a great staff but find we are extremely busy. Our evaluation will be done by The Spangenberg Group from Boston.
