  1. THE ROMANS BY Dara, Jamie, Louis and Gavin

  2. Warriors • The Romans were the best the warriors in the world • They were made up of great armour • The army was very,very successful • The army was made up of legionaries • A legion was made up of 6,000 legionaries.

  3. Romulus and Remus • Romulus and Remus were the sons of the god Mars. • Their wicked uncle did not like them. • So he threw them in the river Tiber • The babies floated to dry land. • A mother wolf heard the babies crying. • So she went to investigate. • She took them to her den. • A shepherd then took them to a cottage and took care of them until they were young men.

  4. Entertainment • Some Roman entertainment was very cruel • Others were very relaxing • The cruel entertainment was performed in a amphitheatre by gladiators. • The relaxing entertainment took place in a bath house.

  5. Pompeii • Pompeii was once a very quiet town • Until one day Mount Vesuvius erupted • The red hot lava covered all of Pompeii • Many people were running for their lives • Around 16,000 people died. • Pompeii then sunk to the ground • It was then discovered by a man 1700 years later.

  6. Gods/Goddesses • There was all sorts of Gods/Goddesses • The most powerful God was named Jupiter • Did You know? • The planet Jupiter was named after Jupiter the God • Another powerful god was Mars • He was the father of Romulus and Remus

  7. Food • The rich Romans ate totally different food to the poor • The rich would sometimes eat a chicken in a duck in a pig in a cow and then roast it. The poor Romans ate vegetables If they could afford any other food they would eat fish, wine and sometimes meat.
