  3. HOW MUCH SPACE DO I HAVE FOR MY WEB PAGE • Frequently Asked Questions - FAQ 170 • I know the state has size limits on my Teachers or Students web site. How do I check the size of my web site? • Start Frontpage and open your web site. • Right mouse click on the "Top Level" (such as http://jd001.k12.sd.ushttp://StudentUserID.k12.sd.ushttp://www.students.k12.sd.us/StudentUserID)of the folder list, and then click on Properties. • A window will pop up showing the amount of space your web site is using.   4. MY FIRST WEB PAGE • HAVE AN OUTLINE OF WHAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO INCLUDE ON YOUR WEB PAGE • YOUR FIRST WEB PAGE (THE HOME PAGE) SHOULD REMAIN NAMED DEFAULT!!

  5. SPACES IN PAGE NAMES • NEVER ADD SPACES TO THE PAGES YOU NAME • EXAMPLE: • my_pictures • city_of_florence • my_mom_at_christmas or mymomomatchristmas

  6. TABLES • BEST TO DESIGN ALL YOUR PAGES USING TABLES • USING TABLES YOUR PAGES WILL BE EASIER TO DESIGN AND SET UP • USING TABLES -- ANYONE WHO VIEWS YOUR PAGES WILL NOT SEE DISORGANIZED MATERIAL

  8. BACKGROUNDS • In your folder on the server you will see a folder that I added-- that states “Materials for Webpage” • Go to format • Background • Select a background for your first page • You can also go out to the Internet and find awesome backgrounds

  9. TREAT YOUR WEB DESIGN LIKE A WORD DOCUMENT • A web page is a lot like a word document • Select a font that you would like to use • You can change font sizes • Change font colors • Center your material

  10. OTHER THINGS WE CAN DO • ADD SOUND TO YOUR WEB PAGE • THIS DOES TAKE A LOT OF WEB SPACE • ADD PICTURES TO YOU WEB PAGE • ADD CLIP ART • ADDING HYPERLINKS IS A MUST • DESIGNING A WEB PAGE IS CREATIVITY AT WORK!!!

IDEAS FOR YOUR WEB PAGE • THINGS THAT ARE NICE TO INCLUDE: • Your class schedule • Pictures of your class • Happenings in your classroom • Assignments for the week • Favorite Web Sites for your students to visit or parents • You can have the students make a one page web design and add it to your web page • WHEN YOU HAVE YOUR WEB PAGE READY LET ME KNOW AND I WILL LINK IT TO THE FLORENCE PAGE
