Common Mistakes. in Research Papers. No first person: I, me, mine, we, us, ours. No contractions: they’re, we’re, it’s, you’re, etc. Do not use “alot” Instead use “many” or “often” as context dictates. Avoid could of, should of, would of. Avoid gonna, wanna, coulda.

  3. No contractions: they’re, we’re, it’s, you’re, etc.

  4. Do not use “alot” Instead use “many” or “often” as context dictates

  5. Avoid could of, should of, would of

  6. Avoid gonna, wanna, coulda

  7. Make sure pronouns agree: each, every, anyone, anybody all take singular pronouns such as he, she, him, her, etc.

  8. Avoid u, r, i cuz, cause, &

  9. Do not use: “I am going to write about…” “My research paper is about…”

  10. ABOVE ALL Make sure you have a thesis statement otherwise your paper will be a report or an essay
