What is Disability Benefits 101? A new infrastructure that will help people with disabilities make informed choices about work.
Disability Benefits 101 (DB101) DB101 is about the PERSON. It brings together benefits information, tools and resources to make the work-planning process easier and more successful.
The Background Why do we need DB101?
Poverty & Disability: The Inextricable Connection • People with disabilities are poorer, as a group, than the general population. • People living in poverty are more likely than others to be disabled.
How do people get out of poverty? The surest way out of poverty is through work… and yet…

Social Security’s Definition of Disability • “The inability to engage in any substantial gainful activity (SGA) by reason of any medically determinable physical or mental impairment(s) which can be expected to result in death or which has lasted or can be expected to last for a continuous period of not less than 12 months.”
