  3. Prevalence • *Gout is more common in men then in woman • *Gout is more effective on older people • *About 1 in every 100 people over the age of 30 get effected by Gout • *Gout is more common in men because they have a higher level of uric acid in their blood then woman.

How gout is caused and transmitted • *When the human body breaks down chemicals called purines it produces uric acid • *Gout is caused after a period of time of Uric Acid building up in the blood stream • *When uric builds up it then attacks the joint • *Gout can be caused by Obesity • *Gout can be caused by daily aspirin use • *Gout can be caused by fast weight loss • *Gout can be caused by medicine taken by transplant patients • *Gout can be caused due to surgery • *Gout can be caused by tumors

How to treat gout • *The most common treatments include the administration of no steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, such as ibuprofen, indomethacin and naproxen • *Aspirin isn't used to treat gout because it aggravates hyperuricemia by increasing uric acid retention • *Over the counter pain relievers • *These medications can cause stomach pain, bleeding and ulcers, they do not provide additional relief • *At home people treat Gout by taking a foot bath in hot water, and baking soda • *There's a way to avoid uric acid build up by drinking plenty of water to keep the body from developing purines. • *Todays most effective gout treatments focus on reducing acid in the body
