Repairs and Estimates (An in-depth look on car maintenance and repairs )
Repair Shop 1.) Recommendations 2.) Shop around Or ….. 3.) Check for complaints 4.) Warranty
Technician • Certifications: • Are Current • Has Experience
Charges • Rates • Estimate • Parts (I don’t know what these are exactly used for, but I know they’re important…)
Preventive Maintenance 1.) Warranties (and other uber-exciting protective material….) (I’m being sarcastic) (Filler Picture…)
Using Your Senses! (If you don’t want to end up like this cat,--listen!) In order to tell if your car needs repairs, use four of your five senses: See Smell Hear Touch
Sight One of the most important of the senses is sight. One must use it accordingly: (This giraffe knows what’s up)
Sight • When you are looking for a potential problem—look for these: *.) Dripping Liquids 1.) Yellowish Green, Pastel Blue, Fluorescent Orange 2.) Dark Brown or Black Oil 3.) Red Oil 4.) Clear Water
Smell • There are several smells which you should always look out for: 1.) Burned Toast 2.) Rotten Eggs (He really likes eggs) 3.) Gasoline Vapors
Sound (Don’t laugh--he’s prepared)
Sound • A few of the most notable sounds that should make you feel really uncomfortable are: 1.) Squeal – shrill, sharp noise 2.) Rumble – low-pitched rhythmic sound 3.) Screech – high-pitched, piercing metallic sound 4.) Clunk – random thumping sound
Feel • Lastly, the way the car handles should indicate if there are any problems: • Steering • Difficulty keeping a straight line • Unintentionally steering to left or right • Brakes • Pulls to one side • Pedal sinks • Scraping or grinding
Feel • Engine • Poor Acceleration • Excessive Oil Use • Engine Continues Running (Don’t let this tragedy happen to you!) (Drive Safe and be Alert!) • Transmission • Delayed or No Response • Slippage During Acceleration • Hard Shifts
