20. Sandra Mack-Huff, Director of Finance Responsibilities of the Director of Finance include: Responsible for all district business and finance operations and concerns; Ensures that all internal and external controls comply with all federal and state laws, rules, regulations and guidelines. To ensure that stakeholders understand how the district is funded; Ensure that our employees are paid correctly and on time; Ensure that our vendors are paid on time; Collaborate with the Superintendent and administrators in developing and managing district’s budgets To work with the Treasurer’s Office to maximize any investments Support and motivate effective teamwork to produce quality services.

Student Dress Code Policy  The Jasper County Public School District Board of Education requires that all students adhere to standards of dress that are compatible with a safe and orderly educational environment. All students are expected to be groomed and dressed appropriately for school and school activities. School uniforms MUST be worn at all times. Student dress deemed by the school principal to be inappropriate or disruptive to the educational environment, offensive, vulgar, obscene, provocative, revealing, profane, or which endangers the health or safety of the students, faculty, and/or staff of the school is prohibited. All shirts MUST be tucked in at all times. Students will be expected to adhere to the dress code policy. Students MAY NOT wear cargo pants or t-shirts. All shirts MUST be polo or collared. Belts must be brown or black.

24. Uniforms Hardeeville Elem School School uniform colors are Royal Blue or White shirts. Pants, shorts, or skirts are Khaki and blue. Ridgeland Elementary School School uniform colors are Royal Blue or White shirts. Pants, shorts, or skirts are Khaki and blue. Hardeeville Middle High School School uniform colors are Orange or Gray shirts for grades 9-12; Gold or Green shirts for grades 6-8. Pants, shorts, or skirts are Khaki or Black for all grades. Ridgeland Middle School School uniform colors are Black or Gold shirts. Pants, shorts, or skirts are Khaki or Black. Ridgeland High School School uniform colors are Red or gray shirts. Pants, shorts, or skirts are Khaki or Black.

25. Cell phones and communications devices No student shall use a cell phone or portable communication device on school property during the school day. During school hours cell phones or communication devices must be turned off (not on vibrate mode) and stored out of sight. Using a cell phone or telecommunication device may include but not be limited to text messaging, taking pictures or videos, playing games, receiving and/or sending calls.

26. Electronic Devices Other Than Cell Phones Students are not permitted to have electronic devices other than cellular phones on school property during the school day without the written approval of the school principal. This policy applies to any electronic device other than a communication device including but not limited to radio, i-Pod, CD player, MP3 player, music players of any other format, televisions, tape recorders, laptop computers, etc. Devices being used for educational purposes should have prior approval of the principal.

27. Parking For the 2011-2012 School Year, all employees will have designated parking including students. Parking decals and permits are not transferable from one vehicle to another or from one individual to another. Student parking permits for available parking spaces will be issued upon application and payment of $10.00 parking fee for each decal requested. No refund will be made. Motorcycles shall have a student decal although assigned to a common parking area. The local school principal is authorized to take action designed to prevent a student’s cutting of class or nonattendance contrary to law and Board of Education policy (truancy). To emphasize the importance of being on time to school, or remaining at school, and attendance at school, the high school principal or his/her designee will suspend a student’s parking privilege for the specified tardy or for the unauthorized departure from school.

28. Scheduling of Classes High School classes will operate on a 4X4 Block Schedule next year. Students will continue to take eight classes per year as with the present A/B Block Schedule format. Students will attend four classes EVERY day for the first semester and attend four new classes EVERY day for the second semester. Our School Superintendent, Dr. Vashti Washington will conduct community meetings in July and August to abreast you on important scheduling changes to more positively impact our children’s education.
