Zonta International Foundation Mission The purpose of Zonta International Foundation is to support the approved charitable and educational programs of Zonta International through effective fund raising, investment of funds and the distribution of proceeds. Through financial support of Zonta International’s programs, the Foundation is the catalyst for greater understanding and service to women throughout the world.

Amelia Earhart Fellowship Fund • Graduate (PhD) fellowships for women studying aerospace related sciences and engineering • US$10,000 (AUD$10,420) each, to 35 recipients each year • Recent winners in District 23: Caroline Rickards (RMIT) Sandra Crook (Adelaide University) Xia Li (Monash University) Caroline Sandra
Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship Fund • Undergraduate Scholarships for young women preparing for a career in business management • Funded by bequest and annual contributions • Over US$230,800 (AUD$240,560) provided for 169 scholarships to women from 38 countries • Applications for 2008 awards are due in June Jennifrer Long, Melton
Young Women in Public Affairs Award • Encourages young women to pursue careers in community service and volunteer organizations • Funded by donations • District 23 and ZI Award 2002: Abigael Ogada Osir • District 23 and ZI Award 2007: Amanda Richards • 2008 entries are invited now

Why should we give to the Foundation? • 70 percent of the world’s 1.3 billion poor are women • Two-thirds of the illiterate adults in the world are women and two-thirds of the children not in school today are girls • 60 million women who should be alive today are “missing” because of violence associated with gender discrimination • Every month of every year, over 40,000 women in developing nations die from pregnancy related causes • Women comprise 48% of the work force, yet less than 5% hold senior management positions & only 10% hold seats in the world’s parliaments • Every year an estimated 4 million women and girls are bought and sold worldwide
