Adding able to words ending in e • Sometimes when you add the suffix –able to words that end in e you drop the e before adding –able. • Usually when words end in ce or ge you do not drop the e when adding –able. • This occurs because if a word ends in ce or ge dropping the e would change the pronunciation of the word. It would change the soft c and g into hard consonant sounds.
Desirable • worth having or wanting; pleasing, excellent, or fine • The new car is very desirable indeed!!
Reusable • To be able to use again • Have you gotten your reusable shopping bags yet?
