  1. Tickhill & Colliery Practice PPG • Patient Participation Group • First established November 2011 • Member of the National Association since October 2012

  2. Who are we? • All patients • All volunteers • The constitution states a committee of 15 and a wider reference group. • We currently have 12 on the committee and only 4 in the wider group. • YOU could join us!!

  3. Why have a PPG? • Changes to the structure of the NHS mean that PCTs will no longer exist and the funding for services will change • GP practices will be buying in services for their patients • The Patient is at the heart of this system and the PPG can be part of it by reflecting patients’ needs.

  4. Clinical Commisioning Group • The CCG will be made up of local GPs with representatives locally attending area groups and reps. from that group meeting centrally. • The aim is better value for money with less funding. • The plan is for the PPGs across Doncaster to mirror this structure and get our views across. • To do this we need to get the views of our patients about their needs and care.

  5. How are we reaching out • Articles in The Today Magazines for TickhillWadworth and Harworth. • The Practice Newsletter • The Practice website • Leaflets, posters and fliers • Our noticeboards in the Waiting Areas • Patient Satisfaction Surveys • Information Evenings on Health Education • Questionnaires

  6. Quality • Following Patient Satisfaction Surveys we have highlighted areas seen as in need of improvement and discussed ideas for possible change. • One aim is for patients to take responsibility for some aspects of their own health eg screening and vaccination. • We have assisted staff with non confidential tasks at mass flu vaccination days (eg box opening)aiming to better utilise staff time and speed up the process • Input into policies to reflect views of patients.

  7. CQC • The Care quality Commission will inspect all Primary care services and interview patients staff and members of the PPG to check that the 16 essential standards are being met • All changes considered can have input from the PPG • The whole aim is for patients to use the facilities to best advantage.

  8. Views and suggestions • We would like the views of our patients. • We would welcome ideas, positive comments and feedback. • Email us at tickhillandcollieryppg@yahoo.com or • Phone either surgery and ask for one of the PPG committee to contact you.
