Why Threaded Fasteners Fail

Unthreaded fastener suppliers and Screws Manufacturer Delhi have plain shafts or bodies while threaded fasteners have fine or coarse thread-like structures on their shafts or bodies. These threads are present for achieving certain purposes and functions. Threaded fasteners are very efficient for certain applications but there are many cases when threaded fasteners fail and damage the machinery or appliances.

  1. Why Threaded Fasteners Fail? Fasteners are primarily of two types based on their design. There are threaded fasteners and then there are unthreaded fasteners. These two types of fasteners are different not only due to their physical design and features but they have different applications. Threaded fasteners primarily fail due to the pressure on the threads that eventually results in increased gaps between two threads, allowing more space to rotate and move. Here we discuss some of the common causes of threaded fastener failure.

  2. Vibration The machine or appliances that use threaded fasteners are prone to vibration due to their everyday use. Vibrations are the major causes that lead to the failure of threaded fasteners. Sometimes, fasteners that are not secured properly can wiggle from their place every now and then. This could lead to vibrations in the fasteners as well like Anchor Bolt Fasteners ,Flange Bolt Manufacturer and Machine Screws Manufacturers. This can also become a major cause of threaded fastener failure. Manufacturing Errors Threaded fasteners are expected to match a certain standard or quality. Sometimes a mistake on the part of the fastener manufacturer can lead to threaded fastener failures too. The threads are placed on a fastener’s body by fastener manufacturers with precision. When fasteners are not made with precision by fastener manufacturers, it can result in failure after the installation in the machinery or appliances. Corrosion Corrosion is a serious problem faced by the fastener industries. Fasteners made in certain alloys are more prone to corrosion and other such issues. Certain materials or alloys like stainless steel help in preventing corrosion in fasteners to a great extent. One must try to talk to the fastener supplier and make sure they give you the best advice in choosing a corrosion-free fastener alloy or metal according to your requirements. Corrosion and other environmental factors that lead to embrittlement can be responsible for the failure of threaded fasteners. Fastener suppliers should educate the buyers about threaded fasteners and the causes that lead to their failure. Fastener World is a leading fastener supplier in India. Buyers can get the best quality of different types of fasteners like screws, bolts, Hex Nut Manufacturer India and Fastener Suppliers washers in varying designs, materials, coatings and sizes according to their uses and requirements.
