  3. DISTRICT STRENGTHS Dropout of Students with Disabilities (grades 7 – 12) Assessment (met measurement objective targets for reading/math)

Recommendations In regards to Indicator 3: Assessment, area C for students not scoring proficient and advanced on regular statewide assessments in reading: our district has implemented an intervention class for identified students who are need of additional support for reading strategies. At the elementary level there is Reading Recovery. It would be helpful to have identified areas of weaknesses from the WKCE data so these areas could be targeted and taught in a specific targeted setting. My recommendation for Indicator 5: School Age Educational Environment, would be an analysis on individual needs of students and where these students could have an increase of inclusion within their school day. This is also driven by teacher support availability for these students. Indicator 14: Post High School Outcomes, our district has been revamping this area at the high school over the past couple years. They have developed a new class available to students with IEP’s with a different theme for each year. The class is called Transitions. In addition, there has been a new avenue for CO-OP opportunities within the Transitions class to get these students into the work force, provide tutoring, as well as getting them connected to higher education facilities and faculties to help bridge their transition.
