Tips for Data Collation - Summary • Be familiar with the School Admin Interface • Make lists of Critical Data and Non-Critical Data • always work on the Critical Data first • Understand Definitions • Request data from relevant department; provide data lists and definitions • Upon receiving data, enter values into the School Admin Interface • always apply FTE to the critical data items • Prepare & submit • Recruiters list • Academic peer list • University name variations • Know the Sources for Help

TIP Understand Definitions - Faculty Staff • Academic • Teaching only, research only or both • Exclude research assistants, PhD students who teach, exchange scholars, visiting faculty staff (input in data item “Inbound Visiting Faculty Staff”), offshore campus faculty staff FACULTY STAFF
TIP Understand Definitions - UG Students • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent • Exclude students pursuing certificates, diplomas, associate degree, non-degree seeking language students, offshore campus UG students UG STUDENTS
TIP Understand Definitions - PG Students • Pursuing a higher level degree such as Masters and Doctorate • Include both taught and research postgraduates such as PhD students, non-postgraduate degree seeking language students, offshore campus PG students PG STUDENTS

TIP Understand Definitions - FTE • Example • Number of full-time domestic faculty staff = 3000 • Number of part-time domestic faculty staff = 100 • Number of full-time international faculty staff = 800 • Number of part-time international faculty staff = 54 • Headcount of faculty staff = (3000 + 800) + (100 + 54) = 3954 • FTE of faculty staff = (3800) + (154/3) = 3851
