  1. CSFL upgrade – status report

  2. Purchased parts/ spares Red and white heat shrinks, Kapton tape, flat cable, spare diodes

  3. Electronics Electronics rack with power supplies. The rack is the same size as the old one. We have one 208V/30A outlet at CalTech now. We can test one power supply at a time. All cables have been labeled.

  4. Work that’s been done • Rack populated, new 208V/ 1 phase plug installed • The cooling system has been enhanced with forced air cooling to compliment water cooling and fins (fans scavenged from old PCs) • Mach II connectors have been designed and drafted (will submit to shop before leaving) • A ~2 ft sample of Mach II flat cables with color coded heat shrinks has been made

  5. Diode simulator Extra air cooling Fan 3 fan1 fan1 Synthetic heat sink sheet (comparable to heat sink compound)

  6. Another view of the set-up Water for cooling

  7. Connectors • Pics (clockwise) description • 230V single phase plug (AM), vendor’s connector for DC line and my new heat shrink clad flat cable • Showing all the three • Other end of vendor’s connector

  8. New connector to diode head

  9. Drawing of new connector (to be made out of silver?)
