Business in corporate portfolios would often be better off as independent companies or as part of other corporate portfolios • On the other hand, some companies where the parent is clearly creating value, where the business unit managers have high respect for the corporate center and the influence it has over their business, and where the company’s market value is greater than the sum of its parts
