33 Today’s objective is to create, understand and analyze similes.
33 The geometry test was as clear as mud.
34 Identify the two parts of the simile. The simile is comparing the geometry test and mud. Mud is not clear and cannot be seen through. The geometry test was difficult and hard to understand. Saying that the geometry test was as clear as mud is saying that the geometry test was unclear. Explain what each part of the simile actually means. Explain what is actually meant by the use of the figurative language.
Odyssey Example • Find an example in the Odyssey and copy it down. Be sure to cite the line and book number. • Draw a literal picture of the simile. • Write a paragraph analysis.
