“Science for Future Molecular Systems” The 22nd Part1 G-COE Special Lecture Corrole’s Chemistry:From basic science to advanced technologies Prof. Zeev Gross (Schulich Faculty of Chemistry, Technion-Israel Institute of Technology) Professor Gross will describe in detail his 12 years work on corroles that started with the 1999 discovery of the first one-pot synthesis of these high potential macrocycles. The basic science includes organic synthesis, structural characterization, advanced spectroscopy, tunable photophysics, and elucidation of the fundamental coordination chemistry of the corresponding metal complexes. Corrole-based technologies that will be emphasized are catalysis of organic transformation, the delicate control of pro- versus anti-oxidant activity, light driven processes, small molecule activation, and pre-clinical investigations for treating various diseases.
