  2. Ferrum College Facts • Small and strong college community • Good Student Teacher Ratio • Beautiful Scenery • Different Cultures • Many Major and Minors to choose.

  3. Things will change, • Some things may be rough • You’ll miss home, your friends, and family. • College is tough if you don’t put in the effort • You will be broke • Some things will change for the best • New friends • Independence • Making yourself and family proud • Life Long Knowledge

  4. Homework, Homework, Homework • Welcome to college, a world a lot different that high school. • If you do not do your homework you will fail. .

  5. Enjoy it! • College is a GREAT experience • SGA and the Student Activity Office plan a lot of different fun things.

  6. Ferrum Debit • You can use your Ferrum Debit at Papa Johns, Subway, the hotdog cart, the Crazy Cuke, and Starbucks.

Ferrum Debit • You only have $250! • Spend it wisely • You can spend about 14 dollars a week and be able to use it all semester. • Where are these places? • Papa Johns and Subway are downstairs in Franklin. • The Crazy Cuke is outside the front of Franklin • The Hotdog cart is outside the back of Franklin

  8. Roommate • You will more than likely live with this person for at least a year: • Make clear boundaries! • Respect the person, respect their stuff, respect their space.

  9. Get to know you Advisor and Professors • Once you get into your major you will more than likely have the same professors over and over again. • Get to know: • Teaching styles • How their test are formatted • OFFICE HOURS • EMAIL ADRESS!!! • Your advisor will help with EVERYTHING! • Planning classes • Dealing with stress • Connecting you with other • Four year plan

  10. Use your Resources • The ARC • The Library • PAL tutors • Office Hours • Writing center • Math center

  11. Learn, Live, Enjoy • Enjoy: Make sure you have FUN! Make time to be social and make friends. • Learn: Put in all your effort into your classes. You’re paying a lot to be here. • Live: You’re going to make mistakes; Learn from them.
