Common Modules:Cross Connect and Controller Card (XCC) • XCC provides following functionalities • Cross Connect matrix • Fully non-blocking VC-12/VC-3/VC-4 • 7.5Gig (48x48 STM-1/OC-3 equivalent) • 12.5Gig (80x80 STM-1/OC-3 equivalent) will be available in future • Unidirectional, Bidirectional, Multicast and Broadcast • Control Sub-system • Architected to support dense cross connect configurations • High processing capability to handle control plane loads in large DXC locations • Can handle multiple subtended rings • Timing Sub-system • Timing can be derived from • External inputs – 2MHz or 2Mbps • STM-1/4/16 or OC-3/12/48 and E1 Interfaces • Internal Stratum-3 clock • SSM support on S1 byte

  5. Power Supply Module • PSM: takes - 48 V DC as input and provides - 5 V & - 12 V DC to other subsystems. It has the following features: • - 36 V DC to - 60 V DC operation • Reverse Polarity protection • Automatic shutdown when power exceeds - 60 V or falls below -36 V • No impact on operation for power interruption < 4ms • Inrush limiting as per ETSI EN 300 132-2 • Redundancy of Power Supply • Fuse protection in case of overloads/failures.

Multi-function Card (MFC) • MFC – provides the following: • NMS (10/100Base-Tx) • Craft (RS-232) • F1 user channel and Modem interface (RS232) • Engineering OrderWire • Audio-visual indication of alarms through Hooter and LEDs • Seven External Alarm inputs and four Potential free contacts for alarm outputs

VCL100MC-16 Bandwidth Distribution • 7.5G XC • Slot 6 and 11 are serial slots with maximum uplink of STM-8 each • Slots 2-5 and 12-14 are parallel slots with maximum uplink of STM-1 each • Total uplink from all tributary slots (slots 2-6 and slots 11-14) can be STM-16 • 12.5G XC (in future) • Slots 2-5 and 13-14 can be serial slots with maximum uplink of STM-4 each and slots 6,11,12 can be serial slots with maximum uplink of STM-8 each • All trib slots can be parallel slots with maximum uplink of STM-1 each • Total uplink from all tributary (slots 2-6 and slots 11-14) can be 3 x STM-16
