Assisting Developing Evaluating Professional Teaching
Act 231 (2012) amended the ADEPT Statute. • These amendments, which are already in place, extend the one year induction period up to three years.
Redefine eligibility for an induction contract, up to a maximum of three years. Local decision rules will need to be established.
Specify that available ADEPT flow-through funding will be provided to districts on a first-year induction teacher basis.
Remove the “April 15” references for teacher contracts. The proposed new language specifies “On or before the date that the district extends an offer of teaching employment. . . .” Note: April 15 remains the contract issuance date in the Teacher Employment and Dismissal Act.
Teachers who have satisfied their induction requirements may be employed under an annual contract. • Again, teachers may now have up to three years for induction.
