  2. What do we do? We work in partnership to protect children and young people from exploitation – from the e-world to the real world

Aims and Objectives • To identify, locate and protect children and young people from sexual exploitation and online abuse – both in the UK and globally • To engage and empower children, young people, parents and the community through information and education • To protect children and young people through the provision of specialist information and support to professionals families and industry and community • To enforce the law by bringing offenders to justice and acting to disrupt and deter future offending • To enhance existing responses to the sexual exploitation and online abuse of children and young people by developing a safe by design online environment and refining the management of offenders

Our faculty approach • Intelligence • Assessment, disseminations, offender management, travelling offenders, missing offenders • Harm Reduction • Education, training, public awareness, victim identification, international child trafficking and behavioural analysis • Operations • Forensics, joint investigations, financial desk, covert capability

  5. Working together • Founder member of Virtual Global taskforce (VGT) – Australia, Canada, Italy, UK, US and Interpol • UK awareness node of European Safer Internet Programme • Member of the UK’s Home Secretary’s Taskforce for Child Protection on the Internet

  6. Achievements • 112 children rescued from abuse • 173 offenders arrested • 12 of UK’s high risk offenders located • 3 organised paedophile rings smashed • 5 of 8 “most wanted” located • 5,553 referrals • 1.1m children/young people trained - UK (11-16) • 4,700 trainers delivering TUK

  7. TUK - Statistics • 55% access the internet everyday • 47% for an hour or more • 21% liked IM/Chat the most • 15% used gaming sites • 11% used Social Networking sites • 33% had access in their bedrooms • 25% have met someone offline • 83% have taken another child

Ambassador Training Price £125.00 (Full day course) It will give you an in depth look at not only young peoples use of the internet and mobile technology, but also examine how offenders use the online environment to groom young people. The training will give both a law enforcement and education perspective Training on all Thinkuknow Educational resources You will have the ability to cascade TUK training to your colleagues.

You will be able to download the assembly presentation and instructions from the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre’s young people website: www.thinkuknow.co.uk The assemblies will be available for download from Mid January 2008
