ACROSS TF2Progress report – October 2015 Summary of main facts: • 2TF2 telcos held since the last meeting in Wuerzburg • dedicated to check a status of TF2 activities • Note 1 : 11 TF2 telcos in total held up to now (regular basis) • Note 2: a couple of telcos also held in TF2 IGs (ad hoc basis) • TF consists of 21 members spreaded across Europe and Israel • 2 new members since the last meeting in Wuerzburg • 5 active IGs - no change since the last meeting 2
ACROSS TF2Progress report – October 2015 IG1:A context-based QoE monitoring 3 • Leader: Florian Metzger(Univesity of Duisburg-Essen, D) • Number of members: 11 • Focus: User-centric, context-aware QoE monitoring & network management • Outputs: • QCMan 2015 paper presented by Tobias in Ottawa, Canada • already indexed in IEEE Xplore, authored by 7 IG1 members • A journal paper dealing with a context monitoring • submitted to Computer Networks (Elsevier) in July – no feedback so far • an extension of the QCMan 2015 paper, authored by 10 IG1 members
ACROSS TF2Progress report – October 2015 IG1:A context-based QoE monitoring 3 • STSM (Eirini Liotou, GR->D – Uni of Duisburg-Essen): • STSM leader: Tobias Hossfeld • Topic: Context awareness in mobile networks • Outputs: • A paper dealing with Context Factors in the context of the TCP-based streaming in Mobile networks (an extension of ITC 2015 paper) going to be submitted to Computer Networks (Elsevier) – SI on Traffic and Performance in the Big Data Era • A paper dealing with Context awareness in mobile networks going to be submitted to IEEE ICC 2016 • plan to extend this paper for ITC 2016 • A paper dealing with prospect theory in the context of QoE planned for PQS 2016
ACROSS TF2Progress report – October 2015 IG1:A context-based QoE monitoring 3 • 1 talk going to be given at ETSI STQ workshop (Vienna, Austria) on Telecommunication Quality beyond 2015 by Eirini Liotou on the following topic: • An SDN-based QoE-Service for Dynamically Enhancing the Performance of OTT Applications • Current activities: • designing a cloud gaming experiment • working on follow-up activities based on the above mentioned papers
ACROSS TF2Progress report – October 2015 IG3:A cross-layer QoE management 5 • Leader: Thomas Zinner(Univesity of Wuerzburg, D) • Number of members: 9 • Focus: • A cross-layer SLA/QoS management for multi cloud-based services • Application-Network Interaction • Output: • A paper dealing with QoS-based route selection in Healthcare Cloud accepted for publication at CEMA 2015 to be held soon in Bulgaria – authored by Rasa Bruzgiene and her colleagues
ACROSS TF2Progress report – October 2015 IG3:A cross-layer QoE management 5 • 2 talks going to be given at ETSI STQ workshop (Vienna, Austria) on Telecommunication Quality beyond 2015 by Peter Pocta on the following topics: • Black box analysis of WebRTC jitter buffer behavior and impact on POLQA predictions • a joint work with NUIG Ireland • Subjective and Objective Assessment of Perceived Audio Quality of Current Digital Audio Broadcasting Systems and Web-Casting Applications • a joint work with TNO, Delft, The Netherlands • Current activities: • initiating some activities
ACROSS TF2Progress report – October 2015 IG4:Time-aware applications, computers and communication systems 6 • Leader: Hugh Melvin(NUI Galway, IE) • Number of members: 6 • Focus: time awareness in SDN and M2M comm. • Outputs: • A paper dealing with Time Awareness in SDN presented at EuCNC 2015 in Paris by Hugh Melvin – a joint work with UniZA • A paper dealing with Delay issues in WebRTC submitted to a special issue of Communications journal • no feedback so far, a joint work of NUIG and UniZA
ACROSS TF2Progress report – October 2015 IG4:Time-aware applications, computers and communication systems 6 • A paper dealing with an impact of WebRTC JB strategies on a quality perceived by the end-user submitted to a special issue of Communications journal • no feedback so far, a joint work of NUIG and UniZA • 2 talks going to be given at ETSI STQ workshop (Vienna, Austria) on Telecommunication Quality beyond 2015 by Hugh Melvin on the following topics: • Black-box Delay Testing of VoIP Applications • a joint work of NUIG and UniZA • Time synchronization for QoE in SDN networks • a joint work of NUIG and UniZA
ACROSS TF2Progress report – October 2015 IG4:Time-aware applications, computers and communication systems 6 Current activities: • drafting a paper on Time Awareness in Gaming for ITSF 2015 • designing an SDN experiment to showcase an importance of time awareness in this context • designing an online gaming experiment to showcase an importance of time awareness in this context
ACROSS TF2Progress report – October 2015 IG6:QoE in mobile networks 7 • Leader: Ahmed Elmokashfi (Simula Research Lab, NO) • Number of members: 7 • Focus: Mobile Broadband Performance and QoE • Output: None so far • Current activities: • working on a survey/position paper on QoE in mobile networks • an expected time of submission: end of this year
ACROSS TF2Progress report – October 2015 IG7:QoE management in the context of unified communication and collaboration services 8 • Leader: Jasmina Barakovic Husic(Uni of Sarajevo, BiH) • Number of members: 2 • Focus: QoE management of unified communication and collaboration services • Output: None so far • Current activities: • drafting a paper on user’s satisfaction with native and Web-based unified communication apps • supposed to be ready at the end of this year
