In case you haven’t guessed, my favorite game is Blizzard’s World Of Warcraft. It’s classified as a Massive Multiplayer On Line Role Playing Game or MMORPG for short-ish. Set in a medieval world of monsters, elves, dragons, good and evil you battle alongside your friends and compatriots working towards a common goal. The difference between this game and what we might call a “traditional” computer game is it’s community and social interaction. Many of the characters you encounter in this world are in fact real people, sitting in front a computer somewhere in the world. You can chat via text or even via voice over IP (VoIP). A player will never reach the full enjoyment of this type of game without interacting with people be it for information about a task to be completed, or even for actual assistance in the completion of said task. • Some of the aspects that make it what it is: • Characters are very customizable (Look down to accessories and gear) • Social Interaction is a HUGE part of it (you have the ability to chat with people all over the world) • Expansive world (you can literally lose yourself in the beautiful digital landscape) • Longevity (people have been playing the same game since October of 2004) • Addictive ( people have been know to ruin relationships and even get divorced due to the addictive nature. • Download a trail version and give a whirl.
