8. What is CLS? US Department of State/American Councils Fully-funded 8 week intensive language program Covers one academic year of language study 13 critical languages offered Arabic, Azerbaijani, Bangla, Chinese, Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Persian, Punjabi, Russian, Turkish, Urdu Chinese, Japanese, Russian only intermediate or advanced (need at least 2 years of language study prior) Institute locations Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, China, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Japan, Jordan, Morocco, Oman, Russia, South Korea, Tajikistan, Tunisia and Turkey

24. Why WAIP? The John Glenn School of Public Affairs offers an exciting opportunity for Ohio State students to study and work in the nation's capital. The Washington Academic Internship Program selects outstanding undergraduates from any major to spend a quarter in Washington, D.C., as John Glenn Fellows. Students work in field placements that reflect their particular areas of academic interest.
25. What do I get from WAIP? While in Washington, John Glenn Fellows remain fully registered Ohio State students. Students earn 3 classes worth of academic credit hours for their internship, the research seminar in which a policy paper is developed, and a course on policymaking and public service in the Washington community. Glenn Fellows meet policy professionals and interact with Ohio State alumni in the region. These interactions have value far beyond the quarter in which Fellows are involved in the program.

27. Alex’s Internship The International Institute for Strategic Studies UK-based think tank that analyzes global security matters, military conflict, and political risk around the world. Conducts research, hosts summits, publishes strategic dossiers, and provides impartial analysis

Life as a Glenn Fellow Live in WISH Congressional apartment housing literally right across the street from the Supreme Court Work Mon-Thurs, on Fridays Fellows attend a policy seminar in the morning with Dr. Kolson. Study policy readings, get quizzed on policy, discuss public policy, write policy papers…. Go on excursions to sites such as the VOA news office, the Pentagon, CIA, Capitol, Supreme Court On weekends: Do whatever you want

Spring 2013 Fellows application due by October 1, 2012 (two weeks ago as of yesterday) You’ll need a current resume, personal statement of interest (two pages DS), a writing sample (max of 5 pages), and 2 recommendations (one should be from faculty).
