  2. WHAT IS CONTINUOUS COMPREHENSIVE EVALUATION ? • Continuous and Comprehensive evaluation refers to a system of school based assessment that covers all aspects of student’s development . • Continuity in evaluation and assessment of broad based learning. • Behavioral out come.

  3. FEATURES OF CCE Continuous • Continual—from the beginning and during the instructional process • Periodicity—frequency /term

  4. Comprehensive • Scholastic * Subject specific areas. • Co-Scholastic * Life skills, attitudes & values and other co curricular activities • Includes a variety of tools and techniques for assessment of the learners.

  5. COMPONENTS Scholastic • Academic – Languages, Math, Science, Social Science • Work experience • Physical and Health Education • Art Education Co Scholastic • Life Skills • Attitudes and Values • Outdoor Activities

  6. Co-Scholastic Areas • Life Skills • Thinking skills • Social skills • Emotional skills • Attitude towards • Teachers • Schoolmates • School programmes • Environment • Value systems

Co-Scholastic Areas • Activity • Literary and creative skills • Scientific skills • Aesthetic and performing arts • Clubs (Eco, Health and Wellness and others) • Health and Physical Education • Any 2 out of Sports/Indigenous sports, NCC/NSS, Swimming, Gymnastics, Scouting&Guiding, Yoga, First Aid, Gardening / Shramdaan

ScholasticEvaluation Formative Assessment : • Assessment which is carried throughout the year by the teacher formally and informally • It is diagnostic and remedial Summative Assessment: • End of term or end of the year exams • Feedback on learning (assessment of learning) to teacher and parents

  9. FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT (FA) Will comprise of 1 or more of : • Class work • Homework • Oral questions • Quizzes • Projects • Assignments/Tests

  10. SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENT(SA) Will be Term End Examination: • Curriculum and syllabus as circulated by the board • Question papers from CBSE • Exam to be conducted by schools • Evaluation of Answer scripts done in school as per answer key and marking scheme sent by CBSE

  11. SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENT SA2 – CLASS X • SA-1 to be conducted by School • SA-2 – Board Exam

  12. ASSESSMENT FOR AN ACADEMIC YEAR Term I – FA1, FA2 and SA1 10%+10%+20% = 40% Term II - FA3, FA4 and SA2 10%+10%+40% = 60%

  13. FINAL ASSESSMENT Formative - FA1+ FA2+ FA3+ FA4 10%+10%+10%+10% = 40% Summative SA1 + SA2 20% + 40% = 60% TOTAL = 100%

  17. GRADING SYSTEM ADVANTAGES • Minimize misclassification of students on the basis of marks. • Eliminate unhealthy cut throat competition among high achievers. • Reduce societal pressure and provide the learner with more flexibility. • Lead to a better learning environment.

  18. PROMOTION RULES of Class IX • Total grade points earned by students to be calculated by adding grade points for all co-scholastic areas • Students who get total grade points in the range 34-42, may benefit by getting upgraded to the next higher grade in two subjects in scholastic areas

PROMOTION RULES of Class IX contd…. • Students who get total grade points in the range 19-33, may benefit by getting upgraded to the next higher grade in one subjects in scholastic areas • Benefit will be given to students who win 1st /2nd position/prize held at state level and/or participation/prize in competitions held at national/ international level organised by a body recognised by the state/ central govt./ CBSE
