Hampton Roads Regional Broadband Initiative The Hampton Roads Regional Broadband Initiative proposes the creation of a fully integrated regional fiber optic network that connects employment areas, higher education facilities, research institutions, and municipal facilities throughout the region. This regional broadband network will allow Hampton Roads to continue to develop as a nationally connected 21st century community and international information gateway, and provide our region the necessary infrastructure to support job creation centered around a number of emerging industry clusters. Commonwealth Cyber Initiative The Commonwealth Cyber Initiative (CCI) is a $25-million effort funded in the 2018-20 Virginia budget. It calls on higher education institutions and industry to build an ecosystem of cyber-related research, education, and engagement. The goal is to position Virginia as a world leader where cybersecurity meets data analytics, machine learning, and autonomous systems. Chart Your Course to a Cutting-edge Career Virginia Cyber Alliance is a partnership of over 60 industry, government, and academic institutions working to expand the region’s influence in cybersecurity, data analytics, and unmanned autonomous systems (UAS). The Virginia Cyber Alliance supports economic growth through technology assistance, internships, subsidies, and outreach.
