Chapter 1 Questions? • Why is the first sentence strange? What does it set up? It shows the magnitude of how far technology of that time has come along. Usually 34 story building are not “squat and grey”. B. It tells the reader up front that the whole story takes place in a “small, grey” building. C. It foreshadows by telling the reader how the society lives. We can see that their life is not very vibrant if they consider large buildings to be dull and boring.
