  1. RPC IES Conversions • May 29, 2013 T. Cravens

  2. May 2013RPC IES conversions • Counts/s ≈ Flux (s sr eV cm2)-1 x G x E • GDW DA (E/E)= • 3 x 10−5 cm2 sr eV/(eV counts/electron) • (one “pixel”) • df/ dEdW = (1/m)v2 f = (2/m2)f E all SI units. Distri. Func f. • f = (1/2)( me/e)2 (1/E)104 df/ dEdW cgs for flux and eV for E • Use E = 0.04 E

  3. Conversions Contd. • RPC IES asteroid SW • Density from this is (with a rough integration and isotropy): 3 cm-3. • At 2.7 AU. Expect 1 - 3 cm-3.

  4. More Conversions (SW) • Second moment - temperature. • (isotropy, zero drift adopted) • Find kT = 9.1 eV which looks good!
